Ayurveda: Everything you should know about



Ayurveda is the oldest system of traditional medicine which is still being practiced by many. It is more than 5,000 year old Indian tradition of healing mind, soul and body. 

What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is made of two words namely, “Ayush” which means Life and “Veda” which means knowledge; hence it is knowledge of life. Some people also call it Science of Life. This science teaches us how to cures the diseases and also teaches us the various methods that are very important for a healthy living. Ayurveda is being practiced since 3000 B.C and countless people have gained benefits from it. According to Ayurveda, by following the Ayurveda the human life can be prolonged. Ayurveda works on the principal that Prevention of Disease is much more important than curing it.

Parts of Ayurveda
Ayurveda consists of 8 parts, namely:-
Medicine (kaya chikitsa)
Surgery (shalya chikitsa)
ENT and eye (shalakya chikitsa)
Psychiatry (bhoot vidya)
Pediatrics (baal tantra)
Toxicology (agad tantra)
Science of rejuvenations (rasayna)
Aphrodisiac life (bajikarana or vajikarana)

Advantages of Ayurveda
The Ayurvedic herbs are beneficial in many ways, they are holistic in approach. They help in proper absorption and good digestion too. They act as a great appetizer. They are not just the substitutes of vitamins, minerals and proteins, but are also good source of energy for mind and body.

Ayurveda is not disease specific, i.e. it works for all the problems. In fact, it acts as a preventive medicine. The entire body is enhanced with the energy accompanied by the enlightenment of the soul, body, and the mind. Ayurvedic medicines also claim to help in treating with the problems of metabolism and some prolonged problems.

Ayurvedic medicines does varies for each individual and according to the body type, age, gender and based on other factors is prescribed to the patient. The main advantages of these medicines are that there are no side-effects. 

Ayurveda over the centuries is well-known and effective for the treatment of the diseases and conditions like Spondylitis, Back Pain, Insomnia, Paralysis, Joint Pain, Liver disorders, Body Pains, and many more.These medicines have even cured challenging diseases like cancer, AIDS etc.
The Ayurvedic remedies are harmless and non-toxic, so it can be used safely as an alternative therapy or alongside conventional therapies.
